CHTON Completes Work On Sophomore Album
March 5, 2012CHTON, the Norwegian death metal band featuring Torstein Parelius (MANES),is seeking a suitable record label to release its recently completed sophomore album, "The Devil Builds". The CD was recorded and produced at Morningstar Studio with Arnt Obsidian Grønbech (KEEP OF KALESSIN, SATYRICON) at the helm, and mixed by Stamos Koliousis (DJERV, MENCEA) at 210 Studios in Berlin. According to a press release, the album "features 10 tracks of dark and brutal death metal drenched in occult horror."
In other news, CHTON is now a four-piece band following the departure of vocalist Terje Olsen after the recording of "The Devil Builds". Bassist Ola will be handling most of the lead vocals going forward.
Commented Terje: "After 10 years as vocalist in CHTON, I have decided to leave the band. We are all good friends and the only reason for me leaving is that I wish to move on and do something else. As a last effort in the the band, I have done all the main vocals on the forthcoming album 'The Devil Builds'. We all feel that we have managed to capture the raw and old school feeling of death metal on this album and this is what CHTON is all about!"
CHTON will perform at the 2012 edition of the Inferno Festival on April 4 at club Blå in Oslo, along with HEADSPIN and MANIFEST.
Commented lead guitarist and founding member Øyvind Rekdal: "CHTON is very excited to return to the stage with full force, and we're working on a tour that will bring our rotten blasphemies to places we've never been with this band!"
Formed in 1999 in Trondheim, CHTON released its debut album, "Chtonian Lifecode", in 2004 via Retribute Records. The group has shared the stage with such acts as MORBID ANGEL, MAYHEM, AMON AMARTH and BEHEMOTH.
